Best Tours & Activities in North Shore (Laie)
Laie is a region of Hawaii that is found in the koolauloa area of the island of Oahu. Originally this region has a history of being a place for fugitives to hide throughout wartime. The city was originally a refuge for pirates and others throughout the Polynesian island but these ties have been abolished since the mid 1800s.
The community today offers one of the largest known communities of the Church of the Latter Day Saints as well as a large operating Mormon Temple. The Bringham Young University of Hawaii is also located here.
One of the most popular attractions in the area is the Polynesian cultural Center which stands as one of the largest museums in the state and a destination that draws in millions of visitors every year. Many of the settlers in this area can trace their roots from a number of countries including New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga and this shaped a very rich and vibrant cultural history in this region.
